Flip Kleffner

Flip Kleffner is an Idaho native, University of Idaho alumnus, former UI student body president, and standout athlete in baseball and football. He is a former Boise City Councilman and Ada County Commissioner. He served the UI as Director of Alumni Relations from 1980 until retiring in 1997. An artist for most of his life, he now works primarily in watercolor and maintains a studio in Moscow.

“After retiring from the university,” he said, “I had the opportunity to spend time developing my interest in art, which had been dormant for a long time.”

Former UI art professor, Alf Dunn and several others along, with Palouse Watercolor Socius members, were a great help and benefit to Flip while he worked to hone his skills in the watercolor medium.

He says, “It is a wonderful feeling to see something develop from a blank piece of paper. I would encourage any one to begin the process. It is a skill you can enhance if you apply some effort. Start today!”
